Otis Chapter #166

The Air Force Association, Otis Chapter will hold its first annual charity golf tournament at the Paul Harney Golf Club in East Falmouth, MA on Monday, 24 August 2009.
A description of the Paul Harney course can be found at:

 .
The tournament's purpose is to raise charity funds to support the Otis Air Force servicemen and women and their families, to enable our Cape Cod community, military, and civil service personnel to get to know each other better in a relaxed setting, and to promote AFA membership.
The general public entry fee per player is $115; for AFA members, Otis military officers and government civilians it will be $90; and for Otis military enlisted personnel the entry fee is $60.
  .
Application forms and details are enclosed in Attachments 1 and 2.
 .
We are asking businesses to help sponsor this charity fund raising event.  Hole sponsorship is $150 per hole, and breakfast and luncheon sponsorships are $100 and $150, respectively.  All sponsors will receive public recognition at the golf luncheon and in our tournament program.  Any corporate “give away gifts” that you would like to donate will be added to the AFA “Goodie Bag” to be received by all golfing participants.
 .
If you would like to participate in this charitable event and to demonstrate your support for the sacrifices of our local military members and families, please complete and mail the appropriate attached form and send it to our AFA Point of Contact, Linda Jean.
 .
This tournament is limited to the first 72 golfers to register so that we can have a fast moving, relaxed and fun outing.  We’re encouraging early sign-up since we’ll be accepting applications on a first-come, first-serve basis.  The cut-off date for signing up to play and business sponsorship is August 14, 2009.  Again, early sign-up is recommended.

CHAPTER NEWS

The Otis AFA Chapter #166 has been making plans for a busy summer.  We are looking for participation and volunteers for the many scheduled activities.  Take a look at the Calendar of Events included in this mailing.  There are items I am sure you may be interested in.

.

The weekend of 31 July to 2 August, the Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR) is partnering with the Newport RI Naval Facility to provide a Commissary sale at the MMR.  There will be truckloads of commissary goods available to those qualified to purchase from Commissaries (pre-orders encouraged).  The AFA Chapter will be manning a booth to sell burgers, drinks, etc (final details still being decided).  We are looking for volunteers to work the booth on Saturday 1 August and Sunday 2 August.  PLEASE contact Linda Jean (sign up sheet enclosed) with a time you may be available to work this booth.  We are looking for four shifts, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning, Sunday afternoon.  Please let us know your preference.  This is a great opportunity for a fund raiser for the chapter but we need your help!
.

Our next member meeting will be held on 15 August, 10:30 am to 12 noon at the Lighthouse Facility at Cape Cod Air Force Station.  Immediately following the meeting, there will be a BBQ, hamburgers and hotdogs will be available to members and their guests.  We are encouraging all potential new members to attend.  There will be door prizes as well.  Looking forward to all attending.  Please RSVP to AFALindaJean@aol.com or call (978) 771-7148 so we can be sure we get you in the gate, AND so there is enough food for all!
