AFA New Hampshire

Welcome from your new AFA President.

It is my privilege to serve as the new President of the Thyng Chapter of the Air Force Association for New Hampshire. I would like to start by thanking Louis Emond for his tremendous leadership and drive these last two years as our outgoing President. During his tenure, we've embarked on a challenge to bring an Air Force Memorial to the Veterans Cemetery, given away thousands of dollars in scholarships to worthy college ROTC cadets, and supported educational programs in our schools. Louis set the bar high, and I hope to live up to that high standard in the coming year.

First, I'd like to give you some background information on my career in the Air Force. I am a 1975 graduate of the Air Force Academy and attended UPT at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas. My flying assignments included instructor duty in the T-38, three tours in the F-15C, and a tour in the F/QF-106 at Tyndall where I was the Commander of the Target Squadron for the Weapon System Evaluation Program. I have a tour on the ground as an advisor to the Army and a tour behind a big steel desk at Ramstein in Germany. I spent five years flying 737s for United Airlines before giving that up to start the Air Force Junior ROTC Program at Alvirne High School. I have been a life member of the Air Force Association since I was a junior Captain.

Over the last two years as the Vice President, I have seen a small dedicated group of volunteers do the heavy lifting for our Chapter. My challenge is to figure out how involved that you, the members, want to be in setting our agenda, and then provide opportunities for everyone who wants to get in the game. I look forward to hearing from and meeting you in the coming year.

Sincerely,
Kevin Grady

The Air Force Association believes that the Administration and the Congress are providing insufficient resources to meet the nation’s defense needs and to fight the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT). We further believe this situation is critical and demands immediate action. We have made the decision to bring this issue to the American public and are asking them to contact their Congressional delegations. We are reminding Members of Congress that they have a Constitutional obligation "to provide for the common defense." We are engaged in a number of activities to seek the public's involvement. We issued an electronic “Call to Action” to all those for whom we have e-mail addresses. To date, in response, thousands of e-mails have been sent to Members of Congress. We followed this by sending personal letters to the Secretary of Defense and every Member of Congress. These letters are attached to this e-mail. These letters also are posted on the Association's website at http://www.afa.org. Next week, we will meet with Congressional leaders and the professional staffs of the major defense committees. We will continue to seek further means to bring this issue to the attention of the American public. We wanted you to know that your Air Force Association is fully engaged in this most important issue.
